Lillian Schumacher's diary tells her personal story in a unique style. “A Wichita Girl Comes to the 1904 World's Fair” tells the true story of this 18-year-old who came to St. Louis for her aunt’s wedding. She relates her personal and detailed experiences in St. Louis and at the World's Fair. Lillian ended up staying in St. Louis for about 2 months, near the very end of the Fair, and she even got a job on the Pike!

Laura Merritt documented her month-long visit from Iowa to St. Louis and the World’s Fair as a 19-tear-old, in 100-page hand-written journal. Thanks to member Margie KIndt, Laura’s journal is now available in a new book form. “At the Fair: St. Louis 1904” resembles her original journal in size and style, with the text printed in a modern font. Laura’s remarkable story is related just as she had written – you’ll feel like you’re walking through the Fair with Laura!
